Uses:
For slowing of hair loss in patients with male pattern baldness (men and women) Treatment of alopecia androgenetica in males and females.

Mode of Action:
 Evidence suggests that Minoxidil promotes hair growth by increasing matrix cell proliferation and by  prolonging the alagen phase. Higher concentrations appear to be more effective in promoting hair growth. To date, at least five million people worldwide have used Regaine®. Regaine 2% can give visible result in about 16 weeks, however, with Regaine® 5% similar regrowth results can be seen in as little as 8 weeks. Over a 12 month period Regaine® 5% can provide over 40% more hair regrowth  than Regaine® 2%..

Recent research (four double blind randomised, clinical trials of minoxidil 2% and 5%solutions showed that hair regrowth or no further hair loss occurred in 75% to 96% of men (compared with  56% to 67% with placebo) and 85% to 89% of women compared with 69% to 73% with placebo.In addition , a five year follow up data from a  subgroup of men(n+31) confirmed that regrowth or no further hair loss was maintained in 91% of men at 1 year and 81% of men after 4.5 to 5 years. Cautions:
People with high blood pressure should be monitored closely by their doctor; avoid contact with eyes, mouth and mucous membranes, broken, infected, or inflamed skin; avoid inhalation of spray mist; avoid topical drugs which enhance absorption  (only about 1.4–1.7% absorbed); not indicated for use in those under 18 or over 65 years of age. Administration:
 Apply 1 mL twice daily to dry hair and total  affected area of the scalp (discontinue if no improvement after 1 year); 5% strength for use in men only. Both Require continuous use to prevent hair loss.
