Minerals are vital non-organic components of enzyme systems  that are involved in every biochemical and metabolic reaction in the body. Functions  include helping to transport oxygen to cells and helping in the maintenance of a healthy central nervous system. Minerals are also required for growth and the upkeep of bones and tissues. They cannot be made by the body and need to be obtained from dietary sources or supplementation. Major minerals such as Calcium, chloride, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sodium and Sulphur are needed in larger amounts than the trace minerals such as Boron, Chromium, Copper, Iron, Manganese, Selenium, Vanadium and Zinc. Virtually none of the nutrients such as anti-oxidants, amino acids and fibre can assert their benefits without the assistance of one or more key minerals.
