* Mandatory for Travel to Mecca for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage

Japanese encephalitis  vaccine is recommended for travellers to rural parts of Asia for stays of more than one month.Travel should be avoided within 10-14 days of primary course, in case a delayed allergic reaction occurs.

Please note that specialist advice should be sought for those intending to live abroad or for those travelling to rural areas or between countries where vaccines such as Hepatitis B or Rabies may be required.

No immunisations are required for people travelling from the U.K. directly to Europe (check for tick-borne encephalitis requirements-see below ), USA (including Bermuda) ,Canada , Australia or New Zealand. Department of Health advises all travellers consider immunisation against diphtheria, polio and tetanus if previously not immunised. A tetanus Booster dose may be required every 10 years (any adult who has received 5 doses is likely to have life-long immunity).  A diphtheria booster should also be given if travel is for longer than one month. The appropriate combined ~~diphtheria/tetanus vaccine is now normally used when either of these is due. A ~polio booster may be advised for travel to certain countries if ten tears have elapsed since the primary course.

Yellow fever vaccine is from designated centres only not available on the NHS.For the nearest centre contact .

Certificates for yellow fever are valis for 10 years. If re-immunisation occurs within the 10 years the certificate will be valid for 10 years immediately after re-immunisation.

Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended for frequent long stays in endemic countries. The primary courseis usually three doses, but in some cases can be two to four doses. The need for a booster is uncertain but some vaccination programmes recommend it.

rabies vaccine is recommended for those likely to have regular contact with animals or travelling for long periods in remote areas more than 24 hours from medical facilities. The primary course is three doses, with full immunity after day 28.A booster is required after 2-5 years.

Tick-borne encephalitis vaccine recommended for certain forest and  grassland areas of European countries.-2 doses given 28 days apart effective for one year, one week after second dose.
