Travel Insurance

Before you go on you travels it is important to take out adequate medical and repatriation cover. In countries such as the USA, you will be charged for any medical treatment you receive. If you are holidaying in the European Union  don't forget to pick up form E111 from the local post office. The E111 enables you to receive free or reduced cost emergency medical treatment. It does not cover all medical services though so to prevent large medical bills it is advisable to take out travel insurance. The insurance should last for the full length of the trip and cover any hazardous pursuits or sports while you are away. Make sure any pre-existing medical conditions are disclosed to the insurer and if in doubt about any aspect of the cover check with them before you travel. Take a copy of the policy number and the telephone number of the 24hour emergency line with you.
