Permethrin

Permethrin is the only insecticide available in creme rinse formulations (Lyclear, Lythrin). This treatment is both quick and convenient to use. For best results it is recommended that the hair is shampooed with a mild (non conditioning) shampoo first. The hair should then be rinsed thoroughly and towel dried so it remains just damp. You should then saturate the whole of the scalp and hair with the creme rinse, leave on for 10 minutes and rinse with clean water. The hair can then be checked for dead headlice and nits and these removed with a fine tooth comb as normal.

Remember only treat if live headlice are spotted.
